2018... A Year Of Change
2018 was filled with more courage and drive than I knew that I had in me. After years of dreaming, I launched Melinda Knutson Photography. Typical of me, I went full throttle and never looked back.
Business management was my life for nearly twenty years so running a business was not a new endeavor but this one was not corporate driven. This was all mine and I love learning and the freedom that comes with it. I love that photography is a field where the learning and growth potential is endless. As I look back at where I started a year ago, it amazes me. From the first family session with the Becker's to the extended family sessions with the Copley's and the Laquitara's this fall and the fun holiday sessions this past month, it has been an amazing journey.
I've photographed families, children and seniors. I photographed a wedding and newborns in the hospital and at home. I've done professional head shots, school portraits, mini sessions and even some sports photography. Just when I thought that a "slow time of year" was upon me, my calendar was full again. I am honored.
The rapid growth of my business has been cause for many changes for my family and for my daycare business and some of them have been pretty tough. When I had to reduce my daycare and let my little's go... well, it still brings tears to my eyes. I held those babies and didn't want to let go on their last day here and I miss them every single day. There have been countless times that I have apologized to my family for my typical 15-18 hour days... that's when my husband tells me that he is proud of me and Maddy tells me that I inspire her and show her that hard work does pay off. I am so blessed to have the support that I have and I take none of it for granted.
I look forward to 2019 with so much excitement. There are weddings, school portraits, family portraits and newborns on my calendar already and I can not wait to see where this year goes.
So, to all of the families that trusted me to capture moments in time for them in my first year of business, I want to say Thank You from the bottom of my heart! I look forward to seeing you all in 2019!
xoxo,
Melinda
